Smokie's Nightmare

Somethin's a-brewing.
Not sure what I'm doin'
I think I just might feel the burn

A tiny spark flicker
It longs to get thicker
We may have ourselves a fire

Surprised by the light
Warm and glowie-bright
Cast shadows that play hard to get

But try as they will
The flame's stronger still
And the darkness will flee in the night

Once Upon Time

Once upon time
I always was
though not before

That would be problematic
my rebelliousness suggests otherwise
but you know better… and before

In momentary invention
rests a thousand thoughts
and I was one of them
inhospitable domainlessness before you
now full of life’s potentiality
but not before

Like the elusiveness of wind
always a step ahead, at least
tracing on your dial
the essence of what I be for

C.F.

Written upon the death of a friend who lost her husband only 7 months earlier.

On your knees and can it be
of pain and sadness you are free

For weeks you cried after he died
a grief set in formaldehyde

The vow of old, to have, to hold
fulfilled, a vacuum dark and cold

But now you lay as if to pray
rejoice! the burden just gave way

And fly like wind, your true husband
is waiting where your sorrows end

On Guercino's "Sampson Captured by the Philistines"

My strength is cut from me
the gift passes
I am helpless before the hoards

Temptation has my arm
Compromise, my head
Consequence binds my hands

My feet slip and I am fallen
ensnared by my appetites unbound

Will is Sick

Please pray for Will. He is very sick. After several days of the throwiupies, on Wednesday he had a seizure. We took him to Lakeland Regional because they have treated his seizures in the past. Most often, it has been low sodium in his blood (resulting from dehydration/vomiting) that causes his seizures. We finally got the sodium levels back to normal today and after that he usually perks right up, but after a good morning, looking like he was making his usual come back, he has steadily gotten worse. He is in a lot of pain. He spent the day arching his back and moaning and trying to sleep. We're really not sure what is wrong. This evening we had him transfered to Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando where most of his specialists work. Lindy decided to make the trek with us and she, Aaron and Levi are staying next door at the Ronald McDonald House... so go have a Big Mac, supersize it and support the team!
